The Snye
Located in the heart of Fort McMurray’s downtown core, The Snye is a hub for year-round recreation.
It's a great place to get out on the water in a canoe, kayak, jet ski or paddleboard or to enjoy picnics, beach volleyball and family gatherings. It also plays host to festivals and events throughout the year.
The Snye is a terrific location for a walk as there’s a paved trail that runs along the water and connects into some other trails in the area.
Feeling hungry? Surekha’s on the Snye overlooks The Snye and the Clearwater River, serving up fine-dining entrees and one of the best patio views in the region.
Did you know?
A "snye" is a geographical feature, a channel of water that connects two rivers. This snye once connected the Clearwater and Athabasca rivers before the causeway to MacDonald Island Park was built in the 1960s.
The Snye is also an active floatplane base.
